It starts with love. I love to work. I’ve loved nearly every job I’ve ever had (except being a bank teller. I did not love that. Be kind to your bank teller, it’s a really hard job). I’ve worked for employers whose mission I believed in passionately, and employers where the mission was less resonant for me. It never matters. I hold a Zen mindset that every act is worthy of my deepest attention. I bring a ferocious work ethic to every job, every day. I am constantly on the hunt for what Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi famously calls “flow,” a state of fully immersed attention in an activity – and I find it all the time. And I love it.
I’ve dedicated myself for 13 years of professional life to making space for people on the margins. My commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion includes 3 roles specifically intended to protect and expand DEI protections and access for BIPOC populations, women, immigrants, people with exceptionalities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
I’ve been a writer since I was a kid, but it became my sole focus at work in 2019. As a B2B business proposal and grants writer, I was pleased to lead a team that had immediate impact on our key performance indicators. I built this program from scratch, and serve as lead for two contractors. In this role, I’ve developed workflows, implemented project management tools, and transitioned to new RFP software. Our team has never missed a deadline.
I’m exceptionally proud of the relationships I’ve built over 10 years at KinderCare. I’m known throughout the company as a hardworking, gracious, generous, responsive partner, and have received company awards demonstrating this. SMEs participate joyfully because they know I appreciate them and will represent their work expertly.
In recognition of my value, teams outside of RFP and grants frequently come to me when they need an expert writer who will get the job done. I wrote a key document for our external accrediting agency, Cognia. I wrote a white paper in 2022 that was widely praised as meaningful, well-researched, and elegantly written. People like me and ask for my help – and I like them back and happily help them.
